Established in 1897, the JW Robinson Co. grew to a seven level Los Angeles department store where I imagine one would find this amazing piece on the third floor as you could find, per the wiki: "Third floor: cloak and suit for misses and ladies, French room for imported gowns and hats, baby shop for fine layette materials and outfitting, mourning goods, children's dresses, petticoats, blouses, millinery, sweaters, bathing suits, kimonos, bathrobes, house dresses, corsets, knit underwear, muslin underwear and aprons". Incredibly gorgeous 1920-1930s vintage black silk velvet cropped jacket intricately sewn as to gather every inch of fabric into delicious folds. Two fabric covered round buttons at the top of the collar with a fabric loop is the single closure. Wide bracelet-length sleeves, fully lined with black satin. Overall quite lightweight, silky soft and so comfortable. The interior armhole seams have likely been mended/reinforced, there are no holes, stains, odors of any kind or any other issues...beyond impressive condition for an item this age, so special in every way!
